I don’t.
Colt
I grab the bottle of Jack and walk upstairs to my bedroom. I need to cool my shit after that Jell-O shot with Brealynn and the moment Alex fucking ruined. The second my tongue left her skin, I wanted more. Craved more.
I’ve never given two shits about a female and that sets me on edge? Who the hell is she to say Alex can have me? And why do I care that she said that?
Sitting down on the bed, I lift my hands and run them down my face. I just need a minute to gather my thoughts. I exhale a breath slowly when I feel a hand rub my back. Turning my head to the right, I look up into green eyes, green, not the baby blues I was hoping I’d see.
“Anything I can help you with, baby?” Alex coos.
“Yeah, you can get the fuck out of my room.” Alex is the campus whore. I won’t touch her, and it kills her. I may have considered it, but she’s been known to play the pregnancy card one too many times, and well, I just can’t risk it. We were at the last competition before, well-before, and I was too busy hitting on anything that wasn’t what I knew, was no doubt a slam-dunk.
She takes off her shirt exposing her bra and nice size D tits.
What? I am a man.
“You don’t mean that. It’s been a long, long time since you have been home. Don’t you want someone in your bed tonight to keep you company?” I could choke on the sweetness in her voice as she straddles my lap, wrapping her arms loosely around my neck. Whispering promises of pleasure in my ear, I fight off the thought of tossing her on the bed and taking her right here. A way to help release some of the frustration I feel.
Normally, I know I wouldn’t consider it, but it’s been a long damn day. Brealynn left me all hot and fuckin’ bothered while she went back to the party. Not one glance back toward me, so why should I consider her? I have no ties. Right now, she isn’t anything to me.
Fuck, I know that’s a lie.
“Touch me.” Alex’s mouth finds my earlobe, massaging it with her tongue, while a battle of mind over matter takes place within me. The warmth of her center rubs over my embarrassingly limp dick. I’d like nothing more than to bang Brealynn out of my system. At that thought, my subconscious beats the shit out of me.
Reason finds its way into my drunken state as I start to unwrap her arms from my body. “You need to stop, Alex,” I tell her and then we both look toward my bedroom door as it opens.
Brealynn
Whoa, hello, drunk Brealynn.
I’m seeing double but for the life of me, there aren’t two Kelseys. Where in the hell did I lose her? Making my way through the house, I find Parker. Just great.
“Hey, baby, where you been all night?” Parker smirks, jutting his chin out.
“Don’t baby meee,” I slur.
Parker looks amazing. I’m not sure he could ever look any less. Dressed in a pair of denim jeans matched with a blue and white striped polo shirt with the collar popped. Hair styled in a long crew cut, no hair left out of place.
“Why don’t you come hang out with me?” When his fingers intertwine with mine, I realize the distance that has closed between us and jolt back. I may be drunk, but um, no thank you.
“How about you eat a bag of dicks?” Withdrawing my hand like he is the devil that he is, I push past him.
“Fuck you, Brea. Who are you looking for anyway, Colt?”
I keep walking; he wants to press my buttons, and he is succeeding.
“Hey! I’m talking to you!” In a rush, Parker follows me, so I open the first door I come to and stop dead in my tracks as my stomach falls.
My eyes lock on a set of familiar warm chocolate brown eyes, and I can’t pull away. I see Alex straddled over Colt, kissing his neck. She’s still clothed from the waist down, but it doesn’t stop me from turning green with jealousy. I hate that she got to Colt first. His stare filters straight at me as he pries Alex off him and attempts to stand up.
“Holy shit!” Parker yells to my right and grabs my hand pulling me out of the doorway, slamming the door shut as if protecting me from the view.
Thank God, no telling how long I would have dumbly stood there.
The slamming of the door snaps me out of shock, and I pull out of Parker’s grasp.
“Don’t touch me,” I barely make out while I hold my emotions at bay. Seeing Alex with Colt just brought back a rush of memories that I had suppressed after finding her with Nick.
“The fuck? I just saved you from more embarrassment in there,” he asks dumbfounded.
“Thanks, but no thanks Parker. Just stay out of my way,” Looking down at my feet before the tears fall, I duck away from Parker, heading downstairs. I don’t know why I feel so upset seeing Colt with Alex, but I don’t want Parker to see it.
Colt’s stare was so intense, like he was craving me, which doesn’t make sense. He chose her.
If it ever really was a choice.
Again, why do I even care?
“Hey, biooottttchhhhh, look what I got!” Kelsey beams, jumping out in front of me as I hit the bottom of the staircase, waving a bottle of vodka in my face.
Damn! Do I have the bestest best friend ever?
She doesn’t even know what happened yet and knows I need vodka.
Thank you, vodka god.
“Give me that.” Unscrewing the bottle cap, I start chugging. Tonight is the worst.
“What the hell, Brea!” Kelsey laughs, taking the bottle from me. Her tone suddenly turns serious once she registers the look on my face. “Let’s go outside. What’s going on?”
“Oh, you know, walking in on Alex giving Colt a lap dance.” I throw my hands up in the air as Kelsey steers us outside to the side of the house.
“Sit. Drink. Spill.”
Who am I to argue? Best friends know best, after all.
I fill her in on the events that happened when she was MIA under the rule that every time I say fuck, we have to take a shot.
We take a lot of shots.
“Yous don’t need them douchebags,” Kelsey slurs.
“Colt likes slores and has fucked Alex just like Nick. Fuck shits.”
Colt
I haven’t been able to find Brealynn anywhere. Panic starts to set in as my eyes dart around the game room trying to locate her.
“Parker, have you seen Brealynn?” Aggravation is clear in my tone. I’m not used to girls running away from me. To me, yes, but never away.
Laughing, he puts down the cue stick he is holding. “Seriously? No, I haven’t seen her since she walked in on you and Alex.” His laugh pisses me off.
“Stop being a dick and help me find her.”
“I didn’t go running after her last time I saw her. I’m sure as hell not going to now. You’re on your own, brother.”
I don’t have time for his shit right now. Turning around fast, I head downstairs to try to locate Brealynn, trying to wrap my head around what she saw. I can’t believe I feel this bad that she saw. This girl has me in knots. A misunderstanding, that’s all it was. Why I feel the need to tell her that, I don’t know yet.
Wait… what?
“What do you mean you didn’t chase her last time?” I stop on the fourth step down the stairs and turn back to my little brother.
“She came to a party we had a year or so back and I caught her boyfriend fucking some other girl. I tried to get her to make it even with me, but she wouldn’t go for it.”
Motherfucker.
“You have got to be fucking kidding me!” I head off toward Brealynn in a rush. I’m assuming she caught her boyfriend that night with some other girl. Shit, and now she’s seen me with someone. I don’t technically owe her a damn thing, but I do.
“You okay, man?” Landon asks as I reach the bottom of the stairs.
“Where is she?”
He gives me a warning look then he sighs. “I saw her and Kelsey walk outside about ten minutes ago.” I walk right past him and out the front door, but he follows me. “Dude, are you sure getting involved with Brealyn
n is a good idea?”
“I’m not invol – “ My sentence is cut short as we reach the side of the house and hear giggling. I put my finger to my lips signaling Landon to shut the hell up and adding a look that could kill.
“I don’t know whys it bothered me, I should just turn lesbo.”
Well, this conversation has taken a great turn.
“Lesbehonest. We like the penis.”
“I’m screwed.”
“No, you haven’t been. That’s your problem,” Kelsey states.
“I haves too!”
Kelsey starts laughing and slurs, “Nick’s sad excuses does not counts maybes you should let Colt poke at you.”
Shit, I don’t want to hear this.
“I want to lick his tattoos.”
Fuck. I’ll let you.
“I bet that’s not all you want to lick. I’m sure he will take you for a ride on his ‘bike’ if you ask nicely.” Kelsey laughs and Brealynn joins her.
I choose this time to round the corner of the house, and when I’m standing right beside Brealynn, she immediately stops laughing and stares straight up at me with those baby blue eyes of hers.
“Can we talk?” I reach my hand out to help her up from the grass. Of course, she doesn’t take my hand. Standing up on her own, she dusts the remaining grass off her ass as Kelsey joins her on her feet.
“About?” She crosses her arms over her chest making her boobs pop out more and arching a blonde brow at me.
If she is trying to distract me, it’s working.
“I gotta pee!” Kelsey blurts out as she takes off toward the house.
Brealynn unlocks her arms and her mouth goes slack like she can’t believe Kelsey just left her with me and all I can think about is how sexy her fucking mouth is. Breaking my stare, I look behind me and see that Kelsey is dragging Landon by the arm with her.
“Look, Colt, you don’t owe me an explanation. I should have knocked.” She only slurs her words a little bit while stumbling to lean her back up against the side of the house. I step in closer to her and place my hands on the brick on either side of her face. She sucks in a breath, which leads me to think that I make her nervous.
“I would have much rather her have been you,” I tell her a breath away from her lips.
“I’m sure it doesn’t matter who you fuck as long as you do.” She places her hand on my chest to push me away.
I grab a hold of her hand and hold it in place. “Breaking my heart, baby. Yes, normally, but there’s nothing normal about the way you have my mind all fucked up.”
“Nice line,” she says, unsuccessfully trying to jerk her hand from my grip.
“I have no idea why I’m even telling you this, but I have never fucked Alex.” I pull her into my body, and fuck me if she doesn’t mold right into me.
“Let me go,” she whispers with little conviction.
“Kiss me,” I demand.
“I…I can’t, Colt. You have that slore’s smell all over you. Please let me go.” Bowing her head, she tries to escape my arms. I can’t argue with her. So, I let her go. She walks back into the house without a second glance my way.
I need a fucking shower.
Brealynn
It took every ounce of energy I had to walk away from Colt just now. How can I respond to him like that? It’s as if he says jump and my body wants to know how high. It’s so frustrating when your own body betrays you. His closeness weakened me, but the smell of her on him gave me the strength to walk away. My earlier buzz has worn off so I head toward the keg, where I spot Kelsey.
“Tell me you let him poke?” She crosses her arms and observes me, gray eyes sparkling with humor.
“I have abandonment issues because of you.” Looking at the cup in my hand with a quick second of debate, I toss it back, draining it of its content.
“Damn, big thirsty!”
“Trust me. I need all the alcohol I can get.” After that conversation with Colt, it’s more like I need a cold shower.
“But did you let him poke?”
“Behind the house, really? No, Kelsey. I worry about your judgment sometimes.” Shaking my head, my eyes land on brown irises; he’s standing across the room with Landon and Tim. There are girls around them, but he pays them absolutely no attention. How do I know this? Because I can feel his gaze over every inch of my body and my heart takes notice, fluttering faster in my chest. Dodging his stare, my eyes roam everywhere in the room but on him.
Yes, he explained himself and sure, he didn’t have to, but he did. That speaks volumes, even in my current intoxicated state of mind. My stomach clenches like a vise when my mind flashes back to me pulling that door open. Light air infiltrates my head, as my heart threatens to crash through my chest. Breathing becomes difficult, my mouth gaping with a gasp as I just stared at the scene. Like an idiot. The reality that Alex was the one keeping him company slams into me, crushing my spirit.
Now that Colt has said his peace, my main goal is to drink myself happy and carefree. This is not how I was expecting tonight to go, but when sluts give you problems, you get fucked up.
Lemons and sluts—they’re both sour and either way life hands them out, you end up drunk.
Stumbling out of the front door, I almost bust my face on the porch, but Colt catches my fall. Of fucking course, it has to be him.
“Whoa, I got you,” he says as he scoops me up. “Where are you heading?” I wrap my arms around his neck and breath in his scent. I don’t smell her anymore, just fresh soap.
Did he shower? My pulse accelerates while my breath hitches. He did it for me.
“Hmmmm?” I mumble as I lay my head on his chest. For the life of me, I can’t remember his question.
“Do you want me to take you back to the dorms?”
Oh, I want you to take me all right.
I hear Colt loudly inhale and realize that I just said that little bit of information out loud.
“You’re fucking killing me slowly, B.” I bury my head in his chest and am surrounded by his citrus smell as he carries me to his truck.
Brealynn
I would have to say waking up is one of the hardest parts of having a hangover. You know what you are in store for once you open your eyes, and for me, today isn’t looking good.
Squinting one eye open at a time, the waves of nausea crash into my throat to the beat of my pounding heart. The bass man in my head is performing his solo while I allow my brewing headache to try to adjust to the unwelcome light of day shining over my bed. I quickly shut my eyes again and just lay there, not moving, trying to rein in my hangover.
As I do, last night’s events start to surface. Fucking hell. Colt brought me home. I look under the covers and realize I’m in my bra and panties. Which means either Colt or Kelsey changed me and I’m betting Kelsey was a little too hammered to do it.
Colt saw me naked! Not just naked, but naked and wasted…and naked! Did I throw myself at him? Did I just pass out? What happened!?
While I’m having my internal freak-out, I hear my text message alert go off. Well, at least I didn’t lose my phone. That’s a plus. I slowly roll over in bed to my side table and reach for my iPhone. Shit. It’s already ten. I missed my first class, and I have four text messages.
Now I have abandonment issues! Tell me you let him poke ;) – Kels
This is Colt. I saved my number in your phone. Sleep tight. – Colt
Colt took you home!!!!! DETAILS ASAP!!!!! – Savannah
When can I see you again? – Colt
Needless to say, I got more than wasted last night. I decide to get up so I can at least make it to my second class at eleven. Rolling out of bed, I head for the showers. Today is going to be a no make-up, hair a hot mess kind of a day. I really hope I wasn’t a complete idiot last night.
Although reason speaks loudly in my head, my body screams for Colt. I really do, despite my best efforts to resist, want him. I just hope I didn’t tell him just how much last night. After my shower, I walk b
ack into my room and see Kelsey clawing her way from the grave, I mean, her bed. She looks like what I assume death would look like. Brown hair ratted into a haphazardly placed ponytail along with last night’s make-up smearing the unusually pale skin of her face.
“Shoot me in the fucking face ‘cause I can’t take this shit.” She’s a little overdramatic sometimes.
“Oh, no. If I have to live through this, so do you because I am right there with you. No telling what Colt witnessed last night.” I start getting ready for class as Kelsey peeks her head out of the covers.
“You’re going to class? Are you fucking insane?”
“I can’t miss my class, Kels. You should get your hung over ass up, too.”
As I am walking to the door, she says, “Whatever. Bitch, you just want to see Colt. Don’t play.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I don’t make eye contact with her because, if I did, she would see right through me.
It’s the best friend superpower.
“You may be a pretty bitch, but I know you’re not a dumb bitch, so quit playing it.”
Spoke too soon. She saw right through me.
My cheeks spread across my face of their own accord as I shut the door behind me, heading off to class.
Colt
I am sitting next to Tim in my second class of the day when I see Brealynn walk in, late. Her hair is up in a messy bun on the top of her head, but even wearing sweats and a hoody doesn’t take away from her natural beauty. Not one glance in my direction as she takes her seat at the back corner of the classroom; she must have a hangover from last night. Closing my eyes, I’m reminded of her pleas, begging for my lips on hers.
The professor begins to speak, his voice dragging me from the memories. Sliding back in the chair, I work my phone from its jean prison.
Clear skies today? –Colt
I hate the way I saw her beautiful blue eyes cloud up last night after what she saw with Alex. Her standing there stock-still with sadness pulling at the most beautiful face I’ve seen, the image won’t leave me. A wild animal clawing its way to freedom filters through my chest every time the image of her shocked face crashes into my head. Since meeting her, foreign emotions have ran through my body, but the one that hits me now, hurts.
